Yellow Submarine was a 3D computer animated Disney remake of the original film directed by Robert Zemeckis. The movie was scheduled to be released in 2012, but the project was ultimately cancelled after another Disney animation project ( Mars needs moms) bombed at the box office. This, along with a poor turnout for another animated Disney film, a remake of (a Christmas carol) , resulted in Disney shutting down the animation company behind the fiom’s development. As a result the film was cancelled. However concept art of the project and early models are available online.

As was in the original movie, Old Fred ventures in the yellow submarine to Liverpool to find those who can help him save Pepperland from the Blue Meanies.

Zemeckis has stated that all of the original songs will be in the remake:

CGI animation and motion capture are being employed in this movie. The California-based tribute band The Fab Four will do the motion capture performance for the animated Beatles.

Zemeeckis hopes to have the movie released by the 2012 London Olympics.
